Cookie Policy
Last updated: October 17, 2026
This cookie policy explains how GroanDeck uses cookies and similar technologies to enhance your experience on our website.
What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that are stored on your device when you visit a website. They help websites remember your preferences and provide a better user experience.
Essential Cookies We Use
We use the following essential cookies to provide core functionality:
Viewer ID Cookie
- Purpose: Random identifier for reactions, streaks, and the daily challenge, set on your first visit. If you sign in, it is linked to your account. We don't use it for analytics.
- Duration: 400 days
- Type: Essential functionality
Sign-in Cookies
- Purpose: Keep you signed in after you sign in with Google, and protect the sign-in process
- Duration: Up to 30 days, renewed while you use the site and removed when you sign out. Short-lived security cookies are also set during sign-in.
- Type: Essential security
No Advertising Cookies
GroanDeck does not show ads and does not use advertising or tracking cookies.
Analytics and Performance
We use Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights to measure page views and page speed. They do not set cookies. Vercel counts visitors with an anonymized hash of the request that resets every day.
Local Storage
We also store a few settings in your browser. They stay on your device and are not sent to us:
- Your light or dark theme setting
- Whether you dismissed the "save favorites" and "subscribe" prompts
- Whether you dismissed the "install app" prompt (cleared when you close the tab)
- A one-time code that confirms you clicked "Subscribe with Google" (removed once you're signed in, or when you close the tab)
Managing Your Cookie Preferences
You can control cookies through your browser settings:
Browser Settings
Most browsers allow you to view, manage, and delete cookies. You can usually find these options in your browser's privacy or security settings.
Impact of Disabling Cookies
Disabling cookies may affect your experience on GroanDeck:
- Daily streak tracking will not work
- Joke reactions and challenge answers will not be saved
- You will not be able to stay signed in
Third-Party Cookies
When you sign in with Google, Google may set its own cookies according to their privacy policy. We do not control these third-party cookies.
Future Changes
If we ever add cookies that are not essential, we will update this policy and ask for your consent before setting them.
